Balconies, courtyards and perimeter walls tend to be lit as an afterthought, if they're lit intentionally at all, which is exactly the gap this rectangular wall sconce was designed to fill. Its clean, geometric housing is built to read as architecture rather than accessory, with a choice of black or gold finishes that let it either recede quietly into a facade or add a small note of warmth and metal detail to an otherwise plain wall surface. Rated IP65 for genuine waterproof performance, the fixture handles the direct rain and humidity exposure that courtyards, balconies and perimeter walls face without the protection of a roof overhang, making it one of the more versatile exterior sconces for spaces that don't offer natural weather shelter. Available in two sizes and multiple color-temperature options, it scales from a compact accent for a narrow balcony rail to a more substantial fixture for a longer stretch of courtyard wall, all sharing the same understated rectangular profile. Zylos Home selected this sconce because facade lighting is frequently the single most overlooked opportunity in residential exterior designโa genuinely well-lit perimeter wall or balcony can transform how an entire property reads after dark, at a fraction of the cost of larger landscaping or architectural lighting projects.
The sconce is available in warm 3000K, neutral 4000K and cool 6000K variants, giving you real control over whether the light reads as cozy, functional or crisp depending on the specific wall or balcony it's illuminating. Two housing sizesโa compact 20cm option and a larger 41cm or 61cm versionโlet you scale the fixture's visual weight and light output to match the wall it's mounted on, avoiding the mismatch that comes from installing an oversized fixture on a narrow balcony rail or an undersized one on a long courtyard perimeter. Both black and gold finish options are constructed from aluminum treated to resist the corrosion and fading that direct weather exposure causes over time, ensuring the fixture maintains its clean lines and color through repeated seasons of rain, sun and temperature change. The IP65-rated seal covers the full housing and lens assembly, protecting the internal LED components from moisture intrusion even in fixtures mounted with no overhead protection at all. Installation follows standard wall-mount wiring practices, and the rectangular profile's low projection from the wall surface means it maintains clean sightlines along a facade or balcony edge rather than protruding awkwardly into the walking or sitting space nearby. Replacement bulbs and components remain easy to source over the fixture's lifespan, since the design relies on standard LED modules rather than a proprietary part that could complicate repairs years down the line.
Line a courtyard perimeter wall with evenly spaced units for consistent, ambient illumination across the entire space, mount a single sconce on a balcony for a warm accent visible from both inside and outside the home, or use several along an exterior facade to define the building's architecture after dark in a way that daytime viewing simply can't capture. Because the fixture handles full outdoor exposure without requiring overhead shelter, it's particularly well suited to modern homes with clean, exposed facade lines where a recessed or covered fixture placement isn't architecturally practical. Zylos Home recommends choosing the gold finish for spaces that want a touch of warmth against stone, stucco or light-colored render, and the black finish for a more understated, contemporary look against brick or darker exterior materials. Whether you're finishing a single balcony or lighting an entire courtyard perimeter, this sconce brings a consistent, considered geometry to a category of outdoor lighting that too often gets treated as a purely functional afterthought rather than a genuine design opportunity. Because both sizes and all three color temperatures share the same clean rectangular housing, mixing fixtures across a balcony and an adjoining courtyard wall still reads as one coordinated lighting scheme rather than a mismatched collection of parts.
